2011年12月14日，国家标准计划《石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵》（20111052-T-604）下达，项目周期12个月，由TC211（全国泵标准化技术委员会）归口上报及执行，主管部门为。全国标准信息公共服务平台显示，该计划已完成网上公示、起草、征求意见、审查、批准、发布工作。[3]
2017年9月29日，国家标准《石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵》（GB/T 34391-2017）由中华人民共和国、中国发布。[2]
2018年4月1日，国家标准《石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵》（GB/T 34391-2017）实施。[1]
石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵制定依据
国家标准《石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵》（GB/T 34391-2017）依据中国国家标准《标准化工作导则—第1部分：标准的结构和编写规则》（GB/T 1.1-2009）规则起草。[2] 该标准使用翻译法等同采用ISO 13710:2004《石油、石化和天然气工业往复式容积泵》（英文）。[2]

《石油、石化和天然气工业用往复泵》（GB/T 34391-2017）规定了石油、石化和天然气工业中使用的往复式泵和泵机组，适用于直动式和机动式两种形式。该标准不适用于计量泵和旋转式泵注：计量泵查阅 API Std 675；旋转式泵查阅 API Std 676。[2]

中国国内生产企业在使用该标准时，应着重参考其在可靠性方面的指导，对该标准中的安全系数、限制条件应充分重视，但不应只拘泥于表面，不要刻板的套用，而是根据用户的准确需求和现场实际安装条件，合理制定应用方案，真正能保证运行中的往复泵机组安全可靠。[4]
